What would you do if you weren’t able to use your washing machine to do your family's laundry?
Laundry still needs to be done. Going back to the washboard is an option, however, there are easier ways. You could even get your kids to help you make and use this simple laundry kit and below there are other options. Drill a 1 1/2" hole in the center of a tight fitting lid for a 6 gallon bucket.
Laundry Kit Supplies
1-6 gallon bucket with a 1" hole drilled in the middle of the lid
100 ft of polypropylene clothesline
96-100 Heavy Duty Diamond Clothespins
3 lbs of powdered concentrate laundry soap
or make your own (see recipe below)
Dry Powder Laundry Soap
2 c. 20 Mule Team BORAX
2 c. Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda
2 c. Baking Soda
1 c. Country Save or Oxiclean
1 Bar grated Fels Naptha (Kirks Castile Soap can also be used)
Several drops of your favorite essential oil
Grate Fels Naptha and mix well with the Borax and the Washing Soda.
Use 2 T. per load of laundry. ( add ½ c.baking soda for whites per load)

To complete this laundry kit you will need:
· A container for soap (a decorative tin works nicely) with ½ t -1 t measuring spoon, Sewing Kit (a decorative tin works great for this too) with Heavy Duty Thread – Black, White, Cream, Red, Navy a pair of good fabric scissors. Extra Needles, Heavy Duty Needles, Upholstery Needle, Pins, Buttons, Snaps, Hooks, Thimble or Two, Eye Glasses, Left over jean leg cut off from Ella Mae Clothespin Bag to use for patches.
